Ways Connected Computers Improve Business

Whether the business is large or small, the right computer network design will drastically improve productivity, security, and flexibility. Time and money are saved on multiple levels. Customer service and service delivery are faster and more efficient. Computers can be connected directly to one another, referred to as a peer-to-peer basis, or configured to a central server.

Productivity

A network design for a small office can be as simple as a peer-to-peer connectivity with computers, as well as other office components. The printer and fax machine, for example, can be connected to the network so every computer has instant access to one printer. This eliminates the need to transfer files onto a USB drive and upload them into the printer. Printing can now be done at the touch of a button without having to leave the desk.

Time is saved, and professionals can move on to other work. Money is saved because each computer does not require a printer. The network also allows easier collaboration because information is shared and modified based on individual contributions to the project or report. If one computer is down for Computer repair, another one can be used to continue the same work which reduces downtime.

Security

Security features are selected to suit the business's needs. These can be put in place during original network construction or added as needs change. Access to files and data can be controlled in different ways. A password can be used to allow a computer access to the network.

Restricted information may require a fingerprint to access. A closed network is not accessible to any computer except those connected to it. This is ideal for confidential and sensitive files as well as research and development projects.

Flexibility

The design can include wireless connection capability, or wifi. Portable devices can have access to the network at the discretion of the business owner. Business partners can work on different aspects of a project from a laptop, tablet, or smartphone from anywhere in the building. Brainstorming between those working on marketing and those working on permits is possible from separate conference rooms. Project managers can be working with one team and check the progress of another on a laptop.

Customer Service

A wireless connection can be accessed by customers if the business desires. Diners at a restaurant can check their emails or texts without leaving the table. This encourages them to relax and stay longer, during which time they are likely to order coffee, have dessert, or order a meal to go for dinner later. Another benefit is that customers can look up items if wifi is available at retail stores. They can read reviews and compare pricing before making a purchase. This will result in increased revenues for the store.
